Grow as an Educator at DSST
Where Experienced Educators Keep Growing.
At DSST, teachers are the heart of our impact. We invest deeply in your growth — because when teachers thrive, our 7,500 students and families do too.
Why Teachers Choose DSST
Teaching at DSST means joining a community that honors your experience and invests deeply in your continued growth. Here, you’ll find the systems to support your practice, opportunities to expand your impact, and a sense of belonging and shared purpose—alongside really great people who love what they do.
“After working in both administrative and instructional capacities in K–12 education for well over a decade, transitioning to DSST was a fitting opportunity to continue both my professional growth and also be recognized for my tenure in the field. I felt seen and valued at all stages of the hiring process and set up for success by the admin team at my school so that I could immediately make a positive impact. I wanted to come to DSST because their core values aligned with mine and, now that I am many months into this new role, I can heartily confirm I made the right decision.”
-Dana Reid, Middle School English Language Development Teacher
Differentiated Growth and Development
Whether you’re in your first year of teaching or your twentieth, every DSST teacher has access to regular 1:1 coaching and differentiated development including best practice frameworks such as Real Time Coaching that meets the unique needs of every stage in a teacher’s career.
Restorative Culture Systems & Support
Every DSST school has a Dean of Students and multiple mental-health providers who partner with teachers to build restorative, inclusive classrooms where both students and teachers thrive.
Research-based Common Curriculum
We use research-based curricula that center excellence and equity. Experienced educators have the freedom and support to adapt instruction to meet the unique needs, cultural identities, and experiences of every learner.
We believe teachers are leaders. At DSST, experienced educators have opportunities to expand their impact both in and beyond the classroom. Here are just a few examples:
Grow Into School Leadership with Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)
A year-long experience for teachers ready to deepen their leadership skills and strengthen DSST’s future leadership pipeline. Participants engage in reflective practice, collaborative learning, and equity-centered leadership growth.
“I will say it again. ELP has been instrumental in my development this year as well as has allowed me to have more empathy for leaders in and outside of my building. Leadership is HARD and stepping into roles that require this leadership is not something small. It has given me courage to be my authentic self WHILE leading and start to unlearn some previous biases that I've had.” -DSST Teacher
Mentor Educators
Many DSST teachers host field-experience students, student teachers, and DSST Apprentice Teachers — growing their own leadership while developing the next generation of great educators.
