Alyssa Whitehead-Bust

Alyssa Whitehead-Bust is a Partner of Attuned Education Partners. In her consulting career, Alyssa has supported nearly 100 organizations through executive coaching, strategic planning, program design, and facilitation support. She has a particular passion for organizations in start-up or transition moments. Previously, Alyssa served for five years as a cabinet-level leader of Denver Public Schools (DPS), serving as both the Chief Academic Officer and the Chief of Innovation and Reform. In her time at DPS, Alyssa led many of the initiatives that have secured increased outcomes for its youth, including developing the district’s new academic strategy and educator supports, realigning central office service functions, overseeing the district’s portfolio approach, and designing and launching one of the nation’s first public school innovation labs. Prior to joining DPS, Alyssa served as the founding principal of the high-performing Denver-based Highline Academy Charter Schools and facilitated the Governor-appointed State Council for Educator Effectiveness in their efforts to roll out Colorado’s landmark Educator Effectiveness legislation, Senate Bill 191. Alyssa has a BA from Wesleyan University and an Ed.M from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, and is an alum of the Broad Academy and Building Excellence Schools.
