Home Office

We strive to make sure that our students and teachers have all the resources they need to be successful. Home Office works not just on background logistics such as operations, facilities management, and curriculum development but also maintains a focus on the people that make us who we are: our students, staff, families, and community. This work includes providing tools for college access and success, community advocacy and engagement, and people development opportunities.

We have the following departments:

  • Academics
  • College Success
  • Data & Assessment
  • Development
  • Ed Tech
  • Finance
  • Human Capital
  • Marketing, Advocacy, & Communications
  • Operations
  • Strategy & Partnerships
Non-Instructional

Providing a welcoming and safe environment for our students is one of our top priorities. That is why our schools have additional staff in the schools to support our students and teachers for specializations that range from providing social and emotional support to logistics.

Our schools have the following roles:

  • College Success Coordinator
  • Front Office Assistant
  • Front Office Manager
  • Paraprofessional

Teachers

Our teachers are at the core of what we do. From creating a warm, inclusive school culture, to leading data-driven, rigorous instruction, our teachers joyfully work hard to serve each one of our students. Guided by our belief in the human condition, our teachers commit to students so they are fully known and affirmed for their unique story.

  • Math
  • Science

Apprentice Teachers

We believe that anyone can become a great teacher with the right support. We partner with RELAY Graduate School of Education to provide a robust, two-year development program for individuals looking to get into the teaching profession. During the first year, Apprentice Teachers work towards earning state certification in secondary Math or Science education. The second year the Apprentice Teacher transitions into a full-time classroom role and completes coursework to fulfill a Master of Arts in Teaching. Whether you are a new graduate or a career changer, our Apprentice Teacher program can jumpstart your career in education!

We develop our Apprentice Teachers through the following:

  • Observation of excellent teachers
  • Understanding how to build a strong classroom culture
  • Feedback and coaching sessions with Mentor Teachers
  • Participation in weekly graduate school learning sessions
  • Deliberate practice sessions
  • Online coursework
  • Practice teaching in Mentor Teacher's classroom
  • Opportunities to develop lessons

Seasonal Coaches & Electives Teachers

Educating the whole child is fundamental to DSST’s view of the human condition--we believe in giving our students every opportunity to explore their passions so that they are supported in pursuing all of their dreams, whatever they may be. Varying by school, some electives are only offered one to two trimesters, switching out to give our students as many opportunities to try exciting new things as possible. From competitive sports like soccer and basketball to elective classes like robotics and drama. These roles are part-time and seasonal.

School Leadership

We firmly believe that leadership matters--our school leaders are key levers for success. They set the strategic vision for the school, hire high quality teams, develop values driven school culture and lead data driven instruction practices. From schoolwide systems implementation to smiles for each student--leaders at DSST embody our core values in every moment.

Our school leadership roles include the following:

  • Associate School Director
  • Athletic Director
  • Dean of Students
  • Director of College Success
  • Director of Curriculum and Instruction
  • Director of Curriculum and Instruction - Intervention
  • Director of Operations
  • School Director
  • School Director in Training

Meet Our Team

At DSST, our staff and students support each other, push each other, and grow together - both inside and out of the classroom. We have all sorts of absolutely amazing teachers and staff members, and each member of the DSST Team has so much to offer outside of their role in our schools. We sat down with one of our teachers this week to learn more about what he does, out of the classroom. Take a look into the story of one middle school English teacher, Patrick Lee Clark.
