The Tuesday Times, 4.6.21

Director Note:

Hello families!

Welcome back after what I hope was a rejuvenating Spring Break for you and your families. We are excited about these next two months here at Montview as we push the final touches on an extraordinary school year. We have been through many changes and adjustments this year and I continue to be thankful for the way this community has responded to these challenges. Our kids, families, and teachers have all endured many ups and downs in light of the pandemic and I am hopeful we are finding ourselves at the end of this stretch. Thank you for the role you have played in continuing to make this a strong and successful school year.

We are committed to having a strong finish to our year and are excited to continue working with your students whether they remain virtual or find themselves in person a majority of the time. We have lots to accomplish in the next two months including CMAS testing, continuing to develop our school-based community, and continuing to provide strong instruction. Please continue to reference our weekly communications to keep up to date on all of our end of year items. As always please reach out to your advisors and our team with any questions or needs you have at this time.

Take care,

John Clark

Assessment Updates

As some of you might have seen in the news, the federal department of education has approved a bill brought forward by Jared Polis which will scale back mandatory CMAS testing this year.

The mandated tests for students this year are:

Required 6th Grade: Math Testing in CMAS/CoAlt

Required 7th Grade: Reading Testing in CMAS/CoAlt

Required 8th Grade: Math Testing in CMAS/CoAlt and Science Testing in CMAS

In person students will be tested either Tuesday, April 13th or Thursday, April 15th for ELA and Math. 8th grade students will take their science test on either Tuesday, April 20th or Thursday, April 22nd.  We are working on finalizing the testing schedules, given all the new information we received and we will communicate to families by Wednesday, April 7th, which day your student will be testing. On the day that they are not testing, please keep students home to complete their asynchronous work from home. However, if that is not possible, we will provide them a space at the school to do their asynchronous work. Please let us know by April 9th by emailing briana.mesa@scienceandtech.org so that we can plan accordingly.

For families who are fully remote, but have asked that their students test, the dates have been shifted back to April 21st for ELA and Math and April 28th for 8th grade science. You will receive further communication by April 14th.

School Culture

During the month of April, we are highlighting mental wellness in our community!  Additionally, we are celebrating all of our core values this month
