E-School & Hybrid Learning

On February 1st, 2021 we have rolled out our hybrid schedule and return to school for select students who opted-in. We are very excited to welcome kids back into our building with safety procedures and protocols put in place to keep our community safe.

E-School & Hybrid Learning Schedule

 

Return to School (RTS) - Hybrid Learning 

Our hybrid and remote schedule are the same. This allows teachers to return to the classroom, working synonomously with our remote learners using and developing techniques with the necessary technilogical tools to be successful in this new working/learning environment. See current Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri schedule.

The hybrid schedule runs on an AA/BB schedule. Group A will attend Mondays and Tuesdays. Group B will attend Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays all students will work remotely/virtually from home. 

 

**IMPORTANT SCHEDULE INFORMATION FOR WEDNESDAYS**

Select students have been assigned mandatory tutoring sessions. The first mandatory tutoring session will start Wednesday, January 6th and every Wednesday after until futher notice. 

**If your student has not been scheduled for the mandatory tutoring sessions they are expected to have an asynchronous/flex day and required to check-in with their advisor at 8:30 a.m. to be accounted for the day.**

E-School Attendance

How to excuse your student for an absence, tardy or early dismissal:

If your student will be late to class, need to sign off early or will be absent we must be notified by the parent or guardian through the attendance line if it is excused:

  • Call and leave a message at 303-320-5570 ext. 8019002, Spanish ext. 8019004 or
  • Email hsattendance@scienceandtech.org  

If your student will be attending classes remotely instead of following their in-person schedule, parents/guardians must notify the attendance line. Please advise if your student consistently doesn't attend in-person, but scheduled to do so your student may lose their spot for in-person learning. 

IMPORTANT: Please leave student's name, nature of the absence, tardy or early dismissal and approximate time the student will be offline.

If your student is having technical difficulties or internet problems and your student was not able to login please let us know.  We understand this may occur and would like to help you navigate your tech issues. Please email student.helpdesk@scienceandtech.org for technology problems only. 

 

ATTENDANCE COMMUNICATION

As of 2/15/21, we have started to send 1 communication regarding attendance. If your student has missed their advisory and period 1 class you will receive an email & text message regarding your student's absence. .

WEATHER DELAY 

If DPS calls:

  • A Snow Day
    • DSST MTV H.S. in-person learning is canceled.
    • All staff and students will have remote instruction from home on that day following a normal schedule.
  • 2 Hour Delay
    • DSST MTV H.S. Center Program staff & students will report to school 2 hours later than normal schedule and released at normal time.
    • All other students and staff will have remote instruction for the day following our normal schedule.

School Dress Code

 

In-Person Dress Code:  Students may abide by “dress down” guidance as outlined here.  

  • Shorts that are fingertip length or longer may be worn.  
  • Ripped jeans--as long as the rips are not above fingertip length--are permitted
  • Hats and headwear are permitted as long as wearing headwear does not interfere with the ability to identify the student and cannot cover or partially cover the students face.
  • Open toed shoes are permitted unless a student participates in lab-based classes (e.g. physics, chemistry, bio, biotech/biochem)
  • All clothing should be free of inappropriate language, gang-affiliations and any writing must be sensitive to the diversity of the entire school community.
  • DSST Staff reserves the right to make a final determination on whether items of dress not directly referenced in our policy meets our expectations in alignment with our values, mission, and dress code principles.

E-School Dress Code

Students should be ready for school each day in accordance with MTV Remote Learning Dress Expectations:

  • Clothes must be worn in a way such that genitals, buttocks, breasts, and nipples are fully covered with opaque fabric.
  • Students may not wear items that promote alcohol, drugs, tobacco products, sex, nudity, or which allude to topics inappropriate for school or considered to be derogatory to others.
