Directors Letter important Traffic Pattern

Good afternoon DSST Montview Families,

We hope you had a good weekend and welcome to our first full week of the 19-20 school year.

We are writing today to ask for your assistance in ensuring the safety of all of our students in the parking lot. With the very many students we have at DSST: Montview MS and HS, Denver Public Schools and the Denver Police identified the traffic pattern that we are using as the best for student safety. While we would all like it to be smoother and faster, student safety is obviously the most important concern.

Below is the map for areas to use for drop off and pick up. Valentia, 22nd Ave and 21st Ave are all identified on the map. In addition, Montview Boulevard has a wide area that can be great for student drop off and pick up as it is directly next to the school. A few families are already using this approach and have found it successful.

In addition, if you have a meeting either before school (7:30 – 8:00) or after school (3:30 – 4:15), we ask that you plan to park on the nearby streets.

We have had the great fortune to have parent volunteers helping us both last year and this year. Last year, Noemi Ascencio, donated a tremendous amount of time helping ensure our student safety. So far this year, we have had Mandy Lindsay, Megan Earthman, and Noemi all out there helping along with some student volunteers. Thank you all!

As a reminder, these volunteers are doing this out of kindness and a commitment to all of our students. Please respond to any questions, requests, or directions with the kindness and respect we hope defines our community.

Thank you very much for helping create a safe and values-driven community.
