Consolidation Updates

It is with heavy hearts that due to unsustainable declines in student enrollment, the DSST Board of Directors voted to proceed with consolidation of DSST: Henry Middle School with DSST: College View Middle School, at the College View campus. As we have previously communicated, we believe any DSST: Henry student who would like to attend DSST: College View Middle School will have a spot. Henry families will also have a priority in the DPS lottery for all DSST middle schools as well as other DPS middle schools in their neighborhood.  You may know that DPS dictates the placements on center-based programs.  We will be working with DPS to understand the future location of our center program, and will be communicating with our center program families directly in December.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean that DSST: Henry MS is consolidating with DSST: College View MS?

Because of low enrollment numbers, DSST: Henry MS is consolidating with DSST: College View Middle School, starting in the 2021-2022 school year.  This means that CV MS would absorb Henry’s MS students next year.  Students will no longer be attending classes at the current DSST: Henry campus.  See this letter that went out to all families on 11/20 that explains more about this decision.

What are my school options for next year?

We believe that all Henry families who want a spot at DSST: College View Middle School for next year will have one, and we hope that our Henry families will choose to stay with DSST.  See below for more information about DSST: College View. We will support families in learning about all school options, not just other DSST schools.  Ms. Duarte and the DSST enrollment team will be available to answer any questions and provide you with support to understand  all the available middle school options. You can also use the DPS School Finder website to learn more about school options.

What should I know about DSST: College View?

DSST: College View Middle School was ranked GREEN on the last DPS SPF.  It is located at 3111 W Dartmouth Ave. and is less than 3 miles from DSST: Henry.  It is another middle school part of the DSST network, which means you can expect similar curriculum, activities, and high expectations and supports for your student on his/her path to college.  DSST: College View Middle School is on the same campus but in a separate building from DSST: College View High School.  Attending College View MS guarantees your student enrollment in the high school, which is the best high school in the region.

You can learn more about DSST: College View MS on the website and keep an eye out for special events for Henry families to meet the staff there.

What do I need to do to make sure my child is enrolled in a new middle school for next year?

During parent teacher conferences December 7-11, each family will speak with your advisor about your “intent to enroll” for next year, meaning which school you would like your child to attend for the 2021-22 school year.  This will help us to best support you with your enrollment plans for next year.
