You should be getting paychecks almost every Wednesday, none so far this trimester. Students will be going to Spider Monkey located at 1400 S Abilene St, Aurora, CO 80012 from 11:00am to around 2:20pm. Please take this into account if your student has any sort of appointment. Please reach out to your student's advisor or the front office tomorrow if you have any questions or concerns. Otherwise students not participating are expected at school and to follow regular school guide We hope are students have an awesome fun well deserved day! Thank you.

Gracias.

Our DSST: Conservatory Green High School has been "blue rated" which is considered distinguished and the highest possible rating in the DPS School Performance Network. Every single one of our 8th-grade students has a seat reserved to our amazing high school! Every student will be pre-enrolled in the Spring. You only need to act if you want to choose another high school.

Our 6th and 7th-grade families who stay with our middle school will have a seat reserved as well once your students start 8th grade. We are so proud of the achievements of our DSST: Conservatory Green High School team!

If you know any current 5th-grade families that would like to get their kids into our middle school the round one of School Choice starts January 15, 2019. Year after year those students that participate in round one get into our school for 6th grade. Our first open house of the season will be this Thursday, November 29, 2018!

Sing up for an open house or tour here: https://info.dsstpublicschools.org/visit-schools

Read about DPS School Choice and apply on 1/15/2019 here:

Trimester 2 Culture Day

November 26th

Rationale:  Culture Day is the first day of the new trimester.  Students are returning from a week off, gradebooks are brand new, interventions are reset, and there is a wonderful opportunity to have a fresh start.  Our goal is to create a firm foundation on which to start trimester 2 through solidifying clear expectations, practicing routines, and building relationships.

Our goal is for each grade to have a theme for the day and for the classes to connect to that theme.  Students should have intentional extended time in advisory and visit each of their classes as well.

At the end of the day, we will have a whole school teambuilding activity, staff vs. student dodgeball!  We will also have a pep rally and will be asking for student and staff participation!

Interim Assessments – Nov. 14th-16th

The end of Trimester 1 is quickly approaching and our students will be taking our end of trimester exams or what we call Interim Assessments. These assessments provide us with a holistic understanding of what students learned throughout the trimester and this data is critical to how our teachers plan student learning for the second trimester of the year. They also help us to determine how well each student is performing at grade level. These assessments will occur in the subjects of Reading, Writing, Science, Math, and Social Studies.  Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. each day of exams in order for teachers to begin grading and data analysis.
Here are some reminders to support your students in doing their best on these very important exams:

  • Be at school and on time – These are required tests for all students and so it is important they are present to take these exams. Our students also tend to do better when they perform in our testing environment.
  • Get plenty of sleep – This is important for all days of school but please help your student to get a proper night’s sleep the night before. This means avoiding screen time and getting a full eight hours of sleep.
  • Have a good breakfast – We do provide breakfast at school but please work with your student to ensure they are getting proper nutrition to start their day. Chips and other snacks do not given students the energy they need to do well in school.

We look forward to seeing our students’ best efforts on these exams!
