DSST: Network Calendar for School Year 2020-2021

Hi Hornet Families,

I am writing to provide as much detail about the End of Year plan for our students and families.

E-School Important Dates

  • E-school will end on June 2nd at 11:30.  Students should plan to report to their classes and advisory as usual until then.

  • All student work is due on Tuesday, May 26th at 12:00 PM.

  • Please look for communication from your student’s advisor regarding scheduling an End of Year conference!

Success Academy Summer E School

  • If your student is signed up for extra support through Summer School, you will receive a letter through Flyer and a phone call from a member of our administrative team during the week of May 18th.
  • Students who attend our Success Academy Summer E-School should NOT return computers during the drop off times allotted below.  Exceptions to this will be communicated by the DSST Tech team.

Student Computer Drop-off/Item Pick-Up

  • Based on DPS policy, we are not able to allow students or families into our school building.
  • We will empty all locker items left at school into plastic bags and label with student names so materials are ready for families to pick up.
    • 6th Grade Families: 6th graders share lockers, so we ask that students and families fill in this locker survey in order to help us separate items as accurately as possible.

Our campus will be hosting check out over the following days and times:

How will pick up work?

In alignment with state and district health guidelines, we want to ensure this is a safe and healthy process for everyone. With that in mind, the entire check out process will be conducted in a car line, adhering to the following requirements:

  • We ask all families to follow the attached map to ensure this is as smooth as possible.
  • Please expect to stay in your car for the duration of this process.
  • Family members must wear a mask when interacting with staff members. This is a requirement of Denver law.

With the support of Denver Public Schools, we will make sure these lines move as quickly as possible, but please do expect some traffic and delays.

What items do we need to drop off?

In each car line, we will have stations to turn in all of their technology and other items borrowed from DSST.

All students are required to turn in all technology borrowed from DSST. This includes:

  • DSST Laptops
  • DSST Chargers
  • DSST HotSpots (if applicable)
  • Independent Reading Books (if applicable)

Tech loss fees will be charged to students who do not return their technology on time.

What items will we pick up?

We will also plan to safely hand out specific items to families as you go through the line, including the bag containing your student’s locker items and a yearbook if you previously ordered and paid for one.

Yearbooks are Still Available: If you have not purchased a yearbook and would like to, please visit this site.  It is a good way to remember such a historical year!

With health and safety in mind, lost and found items will not be available during check out. We will keep these items secure and stored in the school to be available to students next year.

Other Information

Given the financial challenges created by COVID-19, we know that many families may have difficulty paying fees. If you want to contribute anything toward fees, please do so via our school website or call the school to pay over the phone. Regardless of your ability to pay, we remain committed to your student’s education.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our front office team at 303-802-4120.

Thank you for your support in this process and throughout E-School. We look forward to seeing you!
