Who must attend: Welcome class of 2026 to the 2019-20 school year at DSST: Conservatory

Green Middle School! As a reminder, attendance during New Student Academy is required for all incoming 6th grade students.  We are excited to have your child begin their path to college at DSST: Conservatory Green.   New Student Academy is one of the most important program requirements that we have to facilitate our 6th grade students’ transition to middle school.  Success in middle school is a critical first step to ensure that 100% of the students in the Class of 2026 be accepted into a 4-year college or university.

Summer school office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.  The building will close at 12:30 pm daily.  Students who stay for 2nd dismissal may bring a snack or cold lunch to eat. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to starting our summer program on a strong note and preparing all students for success.

7th & 8th Grade Summer Academy 2019

We will have our 7th and 8th-grade summer academy on Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25 at the same times.

Summer School for Returning Students

The Summer School for Returning Students will run from June 12th to July 1st.  Classes begin at 8:00am.  Dismissal is at 11:00am.  The summer school will be a great time for your student to get more practice on grade level skills to push them towards proficiency.  We look forward to seeing your student on June 12th!

Only students that attended middle school at CGMS in May of 2019 can attend summer school and notices have been sent out to all families. If you have questions about this program please reach out to Jennifer Rivera our Director of Special services via jennifer.rivera@scienceandtech.org.

Families, we are so thankful for the amount of love and support our parents have shown all of our teachers this week. We wish you could've seen the honest surprise they felt when a teacher gave them a note or told them how they felt. Teachers expressed that sometimes they don't understand if they are connecting with a student, but this week made it clear that so many of them appreciated them and were grateful for the support and time they give to students.

As we close Teacher Appreciation Week we are doing a potluck for teachers. If you are able to bring it around noon it would be preferred. Though we understand parents are busy people.  You can sing up for the potluck in the link below. Thank you!

We’re gearing up for our best Senior Signing Day yet! Our FOUR classes of Seniors are preparing to walk across the stage and announce their future plans at Senior Signing Day 2019 at the Denver Coliseum. All of the DSST students from 6-12th grade will attend the celebration. Just 2 more years until our DSST: Conservatory Green High School Hornets are up there for Senior Signing Day.

Our school will board buses early in the morning, so please make sure they are on time. Also, we encourage families to pack students lunches as they will be on the buses during lunch time.  This is a field trip where all staff and students will participate, so please contact the front office if you need to excuse your student for the day. Thank you!

Hornet families,

As you have likely heard there is going to be some severe weather in the Denver area this evening and tomorrow morning. DSST adheres to DPS decisions regarding school closures, so please pay attention to your local news forecasts and the DPS website (https://www.dpsk12.org/) for updates on potential school closures. You will likely get messaging from DSST directly as well.

We have also made the decision to cancel CMAS testing for tomorrow April 11th due to the potential for difficult driving conditions should school not be canceled. We will be moving our final CMAS ELA and Math testing day to Tuesday, April 16th. Our 8th graders will complete their CMAS Science assessments on Wednesday, April 17th and Thursday, April 18th.  Thank you for your help ensuring student presence and timeliness during these important assessment days.

If there are other questions please feel free to call our school at 303-802-4120 or reach out to me directly through email with questions or concerns (john.clark@scienceandtech.org).

Thank you!

Dear DSST CG Families,

We would like you to inform you that beginning this week we will be expanding our Refocus system (currently implemented during lunch) to include an after school Refocus Extension.  Our goal is to reduce the amount of earned refocuses through a more extensive intervention that provides an opportunity for a more in depth reflection.

Who Attends Refocus Extension?

  1. Students that skipped lunch refocus.
  2. Students who have earned 10 or more refocuses that week.
  3. Students who have earned 15 refocuses (since their last Refocus Extension that trimester).
  4. Students who fail to meet lunch time Refocus expectations

Time: Tuesday and Thursday 4:10-4:50 p.m.

Communication-Student and Parent Notification: When students are assigned to after school Refocus Extension, parents will be notified of assigned intervention via phone or email contact.  The office will generate a list like the CP and MT list that students check at the end of the day before leaving school.

Students Who Fail to Attend: Refocus Extension takes priority over all after school events including but not limited to College Prep, Mandatory Tutoring, teams and clubs. When a student fails to attend the Refocus Extension after school the parent will be notified. There will also be a follow-up email or phone call from Advisor or Dean.  Refusing to attend the Refocus Extension will result in further disciplinary action as determined by Dean, and will require heightened family involvement.

As stated earlier we want to reduce the amount of earned refocuses and students assigned to Refocus. You can support us in our efforts by reviewing this letter with your student.  Please support us by continuing to engage your student in conversations in regards to student expectations and adhering to school and classroom procedures that support our Core Values.  Thank you in advance for your support.   If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Christopher Earls

Sinceramente,

Christopher Earls
