The Ariel Berryman Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Ariel Berryman Memorial Scholarship will provide financial assistance to graduating Denver School of Science and Technology Public Schools (DSST) high school seniors to attend the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver). The young women receiving this scholarship will be selected by members of the DSST Home Office team in conjunction with DSST school leaders. Scholarships will be awarded based on merit, financial need and academic performance while attending CU Denver. Recipients will be eligible for the scholarship for up to four years.
Ariel Berryman, daughter of Jim and Teresa, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from CU Denver in 2010. After earning her Master’s degree from Portland State University, Ariel returned to Colorado and worked in Human Resources at CU Denver. Ariel was known for her kindness and gratitude, and filled people with the incredible joy of life that she felt. Ariel was passionate about helping people be the best versions of themselves. On behalf of Ariel’s friends and family, DSST is humbled and privileged to be able to honor her with this memorial scholarship and continue her legacy by supporting other young women as they pursue their dreams at CU Denver.
Ariel’s mother, Teresa, earned her degree from CU Denver in 1981 with the help of a scholarship. Both mother and daughter shared a deep gratitude for their education and the power of a college degree to change a person’s life.
Ariel’s parents, Teresa and Jim, worked for the University of Colorado for over 30 years. Jim and Teresa have generously agreed to provide an initial gift of $50,000 to build an endowment and seek to match their initial contribution with the help of generous donors.
DSST is a charter school network that operates public charter schools within Denver Public Schools. Currently, 4 of the top 5 public high schools in Denver are DSST high schools. Teresa serves on the DSST Public Schools Board of Directors and is currently the Vice Chairman.
CU Denver is one of the four University of Colorado campuses. Students at CU Denver can choose from over 130 areas of study. It features a highly diverse student body in a dynamic urban environment in Downtown Denver.
